Nonna Lisa's Italian Restaurant
About This Spot
Stepping into Nonna Lisa's Italian Restaurant in Mackinaw City feels like entering a warm, inviting corner of Italy tucked away in the heart of Michigan. The pace here is unhurried, with an easy rhythm that encourages you to settle in, breathe deeply, and savor not just a meal but a genuine moment away from the bustle. Soft lighting and the subtle hum of friendly conversation create an atmosphere that feels both familiar and quietly special, as if you’ve found a local spot where neighbors gather to enjoy simple pleasures.
The experience here is as much about embracing the comforts of home as it is about tasting good food. The kitchen’s love shows in dishes that coax you to share and linger—breadsticks that invite a first nibble, and rich, comforting plates like chicken parmigiano or seafood pasta that bring a touch of coastal Italy to your table. There’s a familiarity that feels handcrafted rather than hurried, and an easy generosity in portions that encourages sharing, stories, and smiles.
Beyond the food, there’s a very human element at play. Servers move with attentive, yet unobtrusive care, and the space carries a subtle undercurrent of community—a place where regulars and visitors alike find a moment of connection. Local wildlife often peeks in through windows or steps outside, adding a gentle reminder that this is a place where town, nature, and hospitality quietly meet.
For anyone wandering through Mackinaw City, Nonna Lisa’s offers more than just a meal — it invites you to pause, savor, and feel a little closer to the rhythms of another place and time, well-rooted in the present.

We try to get here at least once per year. From the food to the atmosphere, this is a must-stop when visiting Mackinaw City. I didn't take any pics of my food because it smelled too good and I was hungry. Lots of animals around to see. Keep a close eye, you may miss one.

This was our first time eating here. We didn't have to wait long to be seated or for our server to get our order. We ordered several things to share. The food came pretty quickly and was all very tasty.
